Last sunrise of 2013

I have not drawn in a while, need to get back in the habit. Life takes over! Firstly getting the work ready and installed for the Dixie State University Sears Museum Gallery (see last blog). Then travelled to CA to see the Bigger Exhibition by David Hockney (wonderful), then of course the Holidays... I realise I need draw more and then get organised for the Arts to Zion Open Studios tour on President's Day weekend... More in another blog. These two are more abstract... Need to explore more.

Installing Gaia's Robe...

Here we are installing Gaia's Robe, at the Sear Museum Gallery, at Dixie State University, Utah. Gaia's Robe is a mixed media sculpture, using a changed mannequin wearing a full length coat of iPad painted skies on watercolour paper. Using, tape, sewing and other book art techniques, she has been in production since April, but I have been thinking her out for about a year.

Pictured here are Bonnie Timmerman, who was also my 3rd and 4th hand, when needed during construction, Dennis Timmerman and Sandy Bell, helping to install her, and Kathy Cieslewicz took the photos.

I think it's going to be a fascinating show of very different work. Hoping you can make it.

New show coming up

Long time!

Last day of October - All Hallows' Day, or Halloween. I have not blogged in a while, the installation - Gaia's Robe, has taken my time... Fellow artist Fae Ellsworth dropped by and took this picture of me working on the piece. It is due middle of November for a show called 'Sky: Feet on the Ground, at Sears Gallery in St. George. Details will follow in a later blog.

iPad images at River Rock Roasters

Thank you Jim and Naomi, the work will be on show in La Verkin until the end of October. www.riverrockroasters.com

The lack of activity on the blog is because I have been working on my sky/earth manikin installation for the show in December, so no time for new paintings, along with a summer of bacterial bugs... Ug, hopefully past that and on to a better place.

Layered lace and rising cumulus

so this was in the cool of the morning....

Smokey morning sky

Smokey after the fire up north of Cedar, I think. Hope that there are not more as we have had quite a bit of lightning the last couple of nights. Springdale, Rockville and Zion NP all got some good rain yesterday, we watched from a few miles away and got possible 1/2 mm!

But 'tis cloudier today, so cooler temps down to 101 F.

Every strike of lightning I think of the 19 Hot Shots lost in Arizona this week. Too close to home as we know the brave team who are attached to this area. More rain and less lightening!

Glamping, music and Weiser skies

Just got back from Weiser, Idaho having travelled for 4 days (2 each way, there and back) to see 3 nights and days of traditional American music as a preamble to the Fiddler contest that goes on there this week. Great music, company, food and of course skies.
